LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two Kentucky congressmen don't want to be paid while the government is shut down.
The shutdown began Wednesday after lawmakers in Congress couldn’t reach a deal on a funding bill.
During a shutdown, federal employees in essential roles are required to work while others are furloughed. In both cases, employees will have their paychecks delayed until Congress approves more spending.
U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey (D) sent a letter to the House of Representatives' chief administrative officer dated Sept. 30, asking for his pay to be withheld until an agreement is reached between both parties.
“As air traffic controllers, our troops, and millions of other federal employees go without pay during this government shutdown, I won't be accepting my paycheck,” he wrote on social
