COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State University reported a decrease in most on-campus crimes in 2024, according to the school's annual safety report, though reports of domestic violence and dating violence increased compared to previous years.

The report is done in compliance with the Clery Act, which requires colleges and universities to report campus crime data and safety policies.

On-campus reports of dating violence rose to 31 in 2024, up from 24 in 2023 and 22 in 2022. Domestic violence reports also increased, with 20 cases reported on campus in 2024 compared to 12 in 2023 and nine in 2022.

Of the domestic violence reports within the three-year period, only two occurred in residence halls.

Despite the increases in those categories, students said they feel secure on campus.
