COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night in south Columbus, police said.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, the man was crossing South High Street near the intersection of Jenkins Avenue around 9:35 p.m. while a white vehicle was heading south on South High Street.

The vehicle hit the man and left the scene without checking on him or calling emergency services, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a fractured leg.

The Accident Investigation unit responded to the crash.
