ELLSWORTH, Maine — Maine Family Planning announced that its primary care services will officially end at the end of the month.
"We are in an impossible situation,” Olivia Pennington, director of advocacy and community engagement for Maine Family Planning, said.
Maine Family Planning stated that it has lost approximately $2 million in annual Medicaid reimbursement, prompting the organization to discontinue its primary care practices in Ellsworth, Presque Isle, and Houlton.
"Without federal Medicaid funds, Maine Family Planning is no longer able to sustain our vital primary care practice,” Pennington said.
