EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Evansville Police Officer Sam Taylor is on a challenging path to recovery after being shot multiple times while on duty.
Nearly two weeks after the incident, Officer Taylor was moved to a specialized spinal center out-of-state to address injuries affecting his neck, back, and nerves.
He is facing serious injuries that may have impacted the use of his lower extremities.
Sergeant Anthony Aussieker shared an update on Taylor's progress. "He has been able to go outside the facility and it's really the first time he's been outside since he was taken to the hospital," Aussieker said. "While that doesn't necessarily say anything to his recovery path it still something that lifts his spirit being able to get outside and get some fresh air."
