CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

The Meijer grocery store chain is planning to expand into Pennsylvania with a new superstore in Cranberry Township, Butler County.

Meijer will build its new location along Route 228 between Franklin Road and North Catholic High School, according to Cranberry planning director Ron Henshaw. Advertisement

Preliminary plans for the Henderson Crossing development show that the Meijer store would sit near the top of the space and occupy 159,000 square feet. Behind it, along Hillmont Drive, will be 240 multi-family units. Below at the intersection of Route 228 and Franklin, Meijer will add its gas station -- and next to that, a coffee shop, a fast-food restaurant and a dine-in option.
