ST. LOUIS - The clergy-led Spirit of St. Louis Task Force announced a big win in the effort to help tornado-impacted north St. Louis.
Leaders say the task force earned a large state grant, which could assist victims with rent, housing, repairs and more.
Alderwoman Shameem Clark Hubbard, representing the 11th ward in St. Louis City, says there are many residents who still need help following the May 16 tornado.
"People have been waiting for months to get some kind of assistance," said Dr. Linden Bowie, pastor at Zion Travelers Missionary Baptist Church. "We're just proud that things are starting to trickle into the community."
The initial grant amount is just $50,000, but Bishop Lee Scott says once the task force uses 75% of the grant, they can request more funding. The grant allows up
