COLUMBUS, Ohio — It’s much more than an assignment for the eighth graders at Jones Middle School in Upper Arlington.

With crayons, markers and colored pencils in hand, they are on a mission.

“We’re making thank-you cards for veterans who have served in our country,” said Kasey Kreps.

Hundreds of students are taking part in this special service project .

“Just say thank you for everything that they’ve done,” said Cutler Copella.

With red, white and blue and a grateful heart, each student writes out their message of thanks.
