PHOENIX — The Phoenix Union High School District is addressing false 'rumors' about student death on campus at one of its schools.

The school district said a rumor about a student death occurring at Carl Carl T. Hayden Community High School on Oct. 1 had begun circulating after a fight at the school. The district said the rumor is false.

"The rumor circulating about a student losing their life is simply not true," the district said in a statement.

According to the district, a fight between students did occur at the school on Oct. 1, during a lunch period.

One student was injured in the fight but had non-life-threatening injuries. The student was released into the custody of their family.

The district also said a notice about the fight was sent out to parents and guardians the same day
