GRAND CANYON, AZ (AZFamily) — Thursday marked the second day of the government shutdown, and the Grand Canyon remains partially open.
During the last extended shutdown, garbage cans overflowed and bathrooms remained unclean. But on Thursday, the bathrooms are clean and the trash isn’t overflowing.
Although National Park Service buildings are closed, visitors can still access many of the same services. Still, the Grand Canyon experience has looked a little different for visitors this week.
Rhian Warner is from the UK and is visiting for the first time. She was worried they might not get to see the seventh wonder of the world when the federal government entered a shut down. So the park remaining open has been a blessing.
