LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The University of Kentucky has reported increases in several types of crimes on campus between 2023 and 2024, prompting the launch of a new security operations center.

This center is designed to improve response times and campus safety. The university saw rises in reported burglaries, car thefts, rapes and robberies, according to the latest campus crime statistics.

However, some categories showed improvement, with fewer arrests and citations for drug law violations and fewer disciplinary referrals for liquor law violations.

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said the new security operations center will help reduce already quick response times on campus.
