JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A Jasper County inmate is still on the run after escaping the county jail Monday.
Devin Johnson, 18, was at the jail on an aggravated assault charge.
“Witnesses said he used his vehicle to force another car off the road,” Jasper County Sheriff Randy Johnson said. “Those individuals received life-threatening injuries. One of them did.”
The sheriff shared that Devin Johnson was in the custody of two agents while waiting to be booked.
One agent allegedly stepped outside, but didn’t lock the door.
That’s when Devin Johnson made his escape and ran into the woods nearby.
“We walked all through there and never found a track,” Sheriff Johnson said. “He was barefoot. Never found a track. Never found anything.”
