ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WDAM) -
According to the superintendent and JCSD, the lockdown has now been lifted. No imminent threat was found on campus.
A heavy law enforcement presence remains at the school as a precaution. Superintendent Dr. B.R. Jones tells us that a suspect has been identified, but they are not near campus. JCSD will continue their investigation.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is on campus. The school will remain in lockdown while authorities investigate.
They tell us that the school was placed on lockdown following a social media post involving the school. They are unable to share what exactly was in that post while it is under investigation.
Students may not leave the school or be picked up from the school while it is in lockdown.
