MANCHESTER, N.H. —

The Boston Red Sox season came to an end Thursday night by way of a 4-0 loss to their archrivals, the New York Yankees, in Game 3 of the American League Wild Card series.

New York scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning, capitalizing on shaky Boston defense.

The fourth run was scored on a fielding error by the Red Sox first baseman Nathaniel Lowe.

It was one of two errors the Red Sox made in the game. Boston led Major League Baseball in errors during the regular season.

Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler stopped all hopes of a Boston comeback.
