EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- "Wild Summer Lights" at Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden is wrapping up for the season.
The event kicked off back in August and this is the final weekend to catch it. Zoo officials say nearly 40,000 visitors have come out over the past 8 weeks.
The Chinese lantern festival includes more than a mile of glowing lights and sculptures and zoo officials say it was a big hit. Organizers say "Wild Summer Lights" will be back again next year.
“I think they're really unique, especially the ones we do here at the zoo and across zoos in North America,” says marketing Director Black Shocklet. “These lanterns are handcrafted by Chinese artisans and they're built and curated for Mesker Park Zoo, so we're excited to welcome the show back next year."
