TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Haven Addiction Treatment Center in midtown Tucson is facing significant challenges as the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) enacts measures to prevent fraud at sober living homes. This comes after a series of issues in recent years that cost taxpayers more than $2 million since 2023.

For over 50 years, The Haven has been a crucial support system for women battling addiction, many of whom are Native American and rely on a state healthcare plan to afford their care. However, new barriers from AHCCCS are impacting those with legitimate claims, putting facilities like The Haven in a difficult position.

"They are depending on us, their families are depending on us," said Aimee Graves, CEO of The Haven.
