OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Based on the original timeline, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen is 15 or so days away from turning one of Nebraska’s corrections facilities into an ICE detention center.
First Alert 6 has been tracking where those inmates who had called the work ethics camp in McCook home in late August are being moved.
Pillen said the conversion would be ready to go in 45 to 60 days.
Today was day 44.
On Aug. 20, the day Pillen made the announcement . The camp held 194 men at that time.
As of today, it is down to 98.
Many of the inmates have headed to community corrections, usually the last stop before reentry into society.
“There are a lot of parole hearings at the community corrections in the next couple of weeks. I think a lot of people will be paroled and that will create a lot
