A 32-year-old man from Bihar slipped into a deep gorge at the Siang-Yamne river confluence near Pongging viewpoint in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district on Thursday, prompting an intensive search operation.
The missing man has been identified as Uma Shankar, a resident of Naser Post Gurua village under Gurua sub-division in Gaya, Bihar. Shankar was working as a Contractual Assistant Manager with India Post Payment Bank at Dhemaji Post Office in Assam.
According to reports, Shankar had travelled to East Siang with three friends — Kushantadip Baruah from Dhemaji (Assam), Anup Kumar from West Champaran (Bihar), and Subodh Kumar from Muzaffarpur (Bihar).
