INDIANAPOLIS — A local police department's recent outreach to prospective new officers starts with a caveat.

On Thursday, people interested in a law enforcement career got an inside look at the realities of joining the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

"Hersheyville, our scenario-based training village, is one of a kind, so for applicants to get to experience this, for potential applicants to get to experience this or for anybody that's just interested in a career in law enforcement to get to experience this before they're actually in the recruiting process is something that you're not going to get on any other department," said IMPD Sgt.
