PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A pedestrian is seriously injured after a crash closed down I-84 westbound Thursday night.

Portland police said officers responded just before 9 p.m. on reports of a crash on I-84 near Northeast 148th Avenue. I-84 W is now closed between Northeast 181st Avenue in Gresham and Northeast 148th Avenue in Portland as the investigation continues.

The pedestrian who was hit was a traffic control worker, police said. The involved driver then crashed into a barrier and stopped.

After being taken to the hospital with serious injuries, the pedestrian's medical status is unknown. However, the injuries are believed to be "life-threatening," police said.
