Shubman Gill scored 50 runs from 100 balls for Team India in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against the West Indies. Gill’s 50-run knock at Narendra Modi Stadium helped him join Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly in an elite list. The 26-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab became the fourth Indian on Friday (October 3) to cross the 50-run mark in his first home as well as away Test as captain.

Gill made his Test captaincy debut against England in Leeds on June 20, 2025, and scored 147 runs in the first innings. In the first innings of his first home Test as captain, he scored 50 runs.
