The Diamonds are bracing for a South Africa outfit left stinging after blowing a golden chance for its first victory over New Zealand in 30 years.
The Australians will play their first international of 2025 in Bendigo on Saturday night, with the Proteas battle-hardened after a three-Test series against the Silver Ferns last month.
They lost all three games but in the series finale in Invercargill, the Proteas led at every break before a frenetic final quarter, during which a player from each side was sent off.
The Proteas then saw their chance for a first win over the Silver Ferns since 1995 — and only their second ever — evaporate via a goal from the hosts with two seconds remaining, which clinched a 57-56 victory.
