South Sydney have admitted fullback Jye Gray faces a “difficult decision” after being offered $2.4m over three years to join breakaway rugby union competition R360.

The 21-year-old is off-contract with the Rabbitohs at the end of next season and could then make an immediate switch to the rebel league.

Player agents, the NRL and rugby governing bodies this week learned of growing confidence R360 will launch in October 2026, with claims funding has been secured for three seasons.

Several high-profile NRL players have been linked with the competition, including Gray, Ryan Papenhuyzen and Zac Lomax — three players managed by retired code-switcher Clinton Schifcofske.
