Several members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh were on Thursday detained and later released by the police in Chennai after they entered the premises of a government school to conduct a drill, PTI reported.

About 40 members of the RSS had held a drill at the school in the Iyyappanthangal area, the Avadi Police Commissionerate said.

A case of trespassing has been registered against the RSS workers based on a complaint from the school authorities, the news agency quoted an unidentified police official as saying.

The police alleged that the drill was held without prior permission , ANI reported.
