As the new Covid variant, known as Stratus, continues to surge across the nation, an ITV doctor has highlighted two 'telltale' symptoms to be vigilant of.

Stratus, which includes two sub-variants XFG and XFG. 3, is currently the most widespread Covid strain in the UK, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of late September 2025.

The strain was first identified in January 2025 and has since spread to various parts of the country.

Another variant, Nimbus, has also been making its rounds. This strain was initially detected in January 2025, and by May 2025, the WHO had categorised Nimbus as a "Variant Under Monitoring" (VUM), indicating potential public health implications.
