Arizona hunters hoping to pursue black bears this fall are being warned: several popular areas won’t open as planned.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department announced that annual harvest thresholds have already been met in eight game management units across the state. That means bear hunts scheduled to open Friday, Oct. 3, will not happen in Units 1, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3B, 3C, 23 South and 31. ×
