A wildlife rehabilitator, certified by the state environmental conservation department, is facing animal cruelty charges after more than 200 animals were found in her home in Northport, Long Island, officials said.

The animals were discovered alongside a 95-year-old woman who was confined on the second floor of the property, Suffolk County authorities said Thursday.

Samantha Boyd, 57, and her partner, Neal Weschler, 61, were arrested after investigators obtained a warrant to search their property the previous day.

Authorities said 206 animals were living in squalid conditions at the residence on Fort Salonga Road, including roosters, geese, turkeys and doves.

Suffolk County officials said the animals were kept in overcrowded cages filled with waste, contaminated food and insects.
