19-Year-Old Rapid City Woman Dies After Fall At Falling Rock

(Rapid City, SD) — A 19-year-old woman from Rapid City died late Tuesday night after falling from a cliff in the Black Hills. Authorities have identified the victim as Ava Christensen. The incident occurred at a location known as Falling Rock. According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, evidence and witness accounts suggest Christensen lost her balance and fell. Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor. The incident is currently being treated as an accidental death. Emergency response teams from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene, including Johnson Siding Volunteer Fire Department, Pennington County Search and Rescue, Rapid City Fire Department, and Black Hills Life Flight.
