Three people have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after an incident at an industrial site in Liverpool killed a worker.

Two men, one in their 50s and another in his 20s, were injured when a heavy object fell on them at a unit in the city’s Kirkdale area belonging to Shunfa Construction shortly before 9pm on Tuesday.

The older man was pronounced dead at the scene, while his colleague was taken to hospital where he remained on Friday.

The pair were unloading pieces of marble when the incident occurred, a worker who was near the site at the time told the Liverpool Echo.

Police and government health and safety investigators are looking into the incident, and the site remained cordoned off with officers present on Thursday night.
