It is an age-old tradition in Telangana during the Dasara festivities that youngsters go to the temple on the evening of Vijayadasami day, worship “Jammi” (Shami) tree and come back to their parents’ place, wherever they are, to take their blessings.

Sharing of Jammi leaves, treating them as gold and silver, with the parents and siblings and take the blessings of elders has been an invariable part of the Dasara festival. Later, the entire family enjoys the dinner with all the members joining the elders.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao, along with his wife Shailima and children, went all the way to Erravelli farmhouse to meet his father – BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao – to take his blessings on Dasara day on Thursday.
