Allies to President Donald Trump are pushing back against a new report from far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that alleges Todd Blanche, Trump’s former attorney and current deputy attorney general, is “sabotaging Trump’s war against the deep state.”
“Todd Blanche is failing on all measures,” said Peter Ticktin, an attorney who appeared on Alex Jones’ show Infowars to speak to the allegations against Blanche. “Because of him, we haven’t had a pardon granted since May. Because of him, he wants the J6ers to not be compensated for all that we put them through.”
The report wasn’t taken kindly, however, from many of Trump’s close allies, including Matt Gaetz, former congressman and pick for attorney general before he withdrew himself from consideration amid scandal.
“This is absolutely false. Todd Blanche is a patriot and has been standing with President Trump for years now – in the courtroom and now at the DOJ,” Gaetz wrote on in a social media post on X Thursday night.
“I’m in contact with folks at the Justice Department and Todd is the reason so many great things like the Antifa terror designation have happened. By the way: he hired a J6er! He’s no squish.”
A former registered Democrat, Blanche represented Trump in court when he was facing felony charges of falsifying business records in relation to a series of hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, charges Trump was ultimately convicted of.
Others in Trump’s orbit came to Blanche’s defense, including DOJ chief of staff Chad Mizelle, who on X accused Alex Jones of not knowing “how [the] DOJ works.”
“Four years ago, Todd Blanche put his career on the line when he quit his big law job to represent President Trump. Every day since then, he’s been fighting against the DOJ deep state – first as the President’s personal lawyer and now as his Deputy AG,” Mizelle wrote on X Friday.
“Many of our public successes would not be possible without Todd. But even more impressive are the countless investigations, grand juries, and prosecutions that are not yet public. Todd Blanche is crushing the deep state. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know Todd, doesn’t know how [the] DOJ works, doesn’t know law, or, most likely, all three.”
