Mayor Craig Greenberg has appointed state Sen. David Yates to succeed former Jefferson County Clerk Bobbi Holsclaw , he announced Oct. 3.
Yates will now lead the Jefferson County Clerk's office, which has 275 employees and is responsible for overseeing elections in the county. The office also manages records for vehicle tags, marriage licenses and property deeds.
Holsclaw died Sept. 10 at age 81 while still in office, The Courier Journal reported .
Holsclaw, a Republican, was elected for her seventh term in 2022. That term would have ended in January 2027.
She was first elected to lead the office in 1998 and enjoyed a decorated career, during which she helped modernize the Jefferson County Clerk's office by stewarding the transition to online services and reorganizing departments
