CHEROKEE, Iowa (KCAU) — Officials in Cherokee County are investigating two reported child abduction attempts after an incident occurred in Cleghorn. Officials are also urging parents to talk to their children about not talking to strangers.

According to a post from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, they were notified that a man allegedly attempted to abduct two children at around 3 p.m. at Cleghorn Park on September 30.

The report to police said that a woman told officials that her two sons had been playing at the park when a white pickup, possibly with out-of-state Connecticut plates, pulled up near the boys. The boys are 10 and 4.
