ANN ARBOR, MI - A little after noon on Friday, I had told our cops reporter Jordyn Pair to head out for the day. She was about to work a shift on Saturday and stayed late throughout the week to finish up some court stories.

About an hour later, gunshots were heard on the east side of the city. Pair immediately rushed to the scene to cover what ended up being the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Westland teen Lamar Thomas.

Three stories and seven hours later, Pair finally signed off for the night. Her coverage since then revealed details of a nearby employee rushing to help Thomas , how Thomas recently graduated high school and how one of the alleged shooters is a 16-year-old boy being charged as an adult .
