ANN ARBOR, MI — A popular cheese shop in Ann Arbor has a new name.
Zingerman’s Creamery, 3723 Plaza Dr., is now Sanilac Creamery to reflect business changes in the last week.
Arend Elston, primary owner, said he and his cousin have owned 90% of the business since March 2020 and bought out the remaining 10%.
“I think just the longevity of the business moving forward and it made sense to have it all under one ownership,” Elston said.
The name is a nod to Elston’s upbringing. He grew up in Sanilac County, north of Port Huron in Michigan’s thumb, and his family has a farm in the area.
He said the products will remain the same and under the Zingerman’s brand.
“It’s just a business structure change,” Elston explained.
