CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Havelock man is facing serious animal cruelty charges after warrants say he brutally killed his dog.

Warrants say on Wednesday, 19-year-old Taylor Heinrich repeatedly hit his dog until it was unconscious.

He then fired a crossbow into the dog’s body, according to warrants.

Heinrich was arrested by Havelock police yesterday and was charged with cruelty to animals.

He was taken to the Craven County Detention Center, where court documents say he posted a $5,000 bond.
