After weeks of student pushback — including a walkout where hundreds of students marched on district headquarters — Seattle Public Schools officials compromised on the edict requiring all high schools to have two lunch periods instead of one.

Starting Monday, Oct. 6, all SPS high schools will have two lunch periods, except on Wednesdays, when students can share one schoolwide 30-minute lunch period.
