REYNOLDS, Ga. (WPLG) - The search is over for a convicted killer who was mistakenly released from a Florida jail.

James Edward Daniels was recaptured by law enforcement in Georgia on Wednesday.

The 60-year-old convicted murderer was mistakenly released Saturday from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

Deputy injured in Augusta shoot-out with wanted man

A Richmond County deputy was shot during an officer-involved shooting on Washington Road — making this the third deputy injured in a shooting this year.

Investigators called his release a “procedural error” and initially warned Daniels could have been armed and dangerous.

Daniels had been sentenced to life in prison earlier this year for his role in the December 2020 kidnapping and torture of three men
