Shyamkanu Mahanta, one of the key accused in the Zubeen Garg death case had filed a writ petition before the Supreme Court on September 30, just a day ahead of being arrested by Assam Police sleuths after he landed in Delhi from Singapore.

In his 141-page petition, Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival for which Zubeen had gone to Singapore, has alleged that he has been made a victim of “well calculated witch-hunt” by the “irresponsible media reportings, both print and electronic,” thereby creating a “false narrative” about his involvement in the death of Zubeen Garg. He has been made a “scapegoat”
