The Pike County Sheriff’s Office announced that K9 Choppa has received a bullet- and stab-resistant vest thanks to a charitable donation from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The new body armor was sponsored by the nonprofit and embroidered with the message: “In memory of K9 Luca, DeSoto Cty. MS – EOW 2-21-24.”
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2009 that equips law-enforcement dogs nationwide with U.S.-made, custom-fitted, NIJ-certified protective vests and other support. Since its inception, the group has provided more than 6,120 vests valued at about $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, funded by private and corporate donations.
