A major national pharmacy chain is no more.

Rite Aid, which once sat on street corners across the U.S. along with competitors CVS and Walgreens, has officially closed all its locations nationwide.

“All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support,” an announcement on its website said.

The bare bones website also has information for former customers requesting prescription and immunization records and a link that allows people to search for a new pharmacy, but not much else.

The news has been expected with the once iconic chain announcing in August 2024 that it was closing all 170 remaining stores in Michigan . But the falloff has been quick. In 2022, Rite Aid operated 2,451 locations.
