WARE, England — As the rumors swirled in the spring that the Minnesota Vikings could potentially play across the pond once again, longtime fan John Macdonald halfheartedly declared on a podcast that he would bike to the game if that were indeed the case.
Then the NFL released the schedule, announcing the Vikings would be a part of an unprecedented international swing featuring a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park in Dublin, then another against the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
As the vice president of the UK and Ireland Minnesota Vikings Fan Club, Macdonald knew he had to follow through on his declaration. He decided he would attend the game at Croke Park, then bike nearly 400 miles and attend the game in London.
