SPIRIT LAKE RESERVATION — After a reported Devils Lake car theft ended in a single-vehicle crash near St. Michael, one suspect has been detained and another remains at large.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs law enforcement department received a call from Lake Region Dispatch at 6:53 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, regarding a vehicle stolen from Devils Lake, according to a press release issued on behalf of the Spirit Lake Tribal Council Friday morning, Oct. 3.

At 7:03 p.m., a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer arrived on the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Spirit Lake Reservation, near St. Michael. Vicki Alberts, public relations for the tribe, issued the release and confirmed to the Grand Forks Herald that the stolen and crashed car were one and the same.
