The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office will launch a new DUI awareness campaign the annual Oktoberfest at SteelStacks , responding to a dramatic increase in impaired driving cases across the county.

Impaired driving cases in Lehigh County have risen sharply over the past five years, jumping from 1,235 cases in 2020 to 1,751 cases in 2024. The cases involve both drugs and alcohol, and sometimes both substances.

The awareness campaign marks a new addition to the 15th annual Oktoberfest, which drew an estimated 48,000 people last year. Attendees typically come for food, brews, crafts, and retailers over two weekends in October.
