BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A drinking water standard violation remains in effect for some Battle Creek-area customers following recent safety testing, the city says.
Testing conducted in August showed that trihalomethanes, or TTHM, levels at sites in Battle Creek, Emmett Township and Pennfield Township remain above the federal safety standard of 80 parts per billion, according to the city.
Levels increased at sites in Battle Creek and Emmett Township between May and August. City officials suggested that the increase is likely due to the presence of older water and rainfall introducing more organic material into the water.
