SEATTLE — A psychology lecture at the University of Washington erupted into turmoil on Wednesday when a man barged into one of the campus’s largest classrooms, raising a Nazi salute and shouting insults at students and their professor.

Cellphone video captured the moment the intruder, identified as Sam Polyak, interrupted the lecture at Kane Hall. Students could be heard booing and shouting for him to leave.

“He came in again and started calling us degenerates for learning the material, a bunch of slurs, basically a lot of harmful rhetoric,” said Ashlyn Anderson, a student who was in the class. “A lot of us weren’t going to tolerate that.”
