PORTLAND, Ore. — The first hearing over Oregon's lawsuit challenging the federal deployment of the state's National Guard to Portland concluded Friday morning with no immediate decision on the state's request for a temporary restraining order to block the deployment while the court case plays out.
U.S. District Judge Karin Immergut said she will try to issue a ruling later Friday but could extend it to Saturday. The judge said part of the reason for the delay is she's still catching up on the case reading. She was assigned to the case on Thursday evening after U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon recused himself .
