NORFOLK — Granby High plays its first football game Friday night after the abrupt departure of head coach Kendal Jefferson, hosting Manor in an Eastern District contest.

Jefferson led the Comets for two-plus seasons, winning 16 games and turning around a program that was winless the season before he took over. Jonathan Wilson — Granby’s girls basketball coach — has been named interim coach.

Jefferson was 16-11 as the Comets’ coach.

“We cannot comment on personnel matters other than Jonathan Wilson is the interim head coach,” Granby athletic director Chris Harris said in an email Friday.

Jefferson and Wilson did not immediately respond to The Pilot for comment.
