The Life of a Showgirl contains several nods to some potential Taylor Swift feuds, but one question on every Swiftie’s mind is who “Father Figure” is about.
The song, which is the fourth track on the singer’s latest album, mentions “a younger me” and a “protégé” who seems to have been involved in some kind of betrayal. It pulls interpolations from George Michael’s song of the same name.
“I was your father figure / We drank that brown liquor / You made a deal with this devil / Turns out my d–k’s bigger,” Swift sings. “You want a fight, you found it / I got the place surrounded / You’ll be sleeping with the fishes / before you know you’re drowning.”
Swift also adds that the mentee “picked the wrong trigger,” adding, “This empire belongs to me.”
