Sheriff’s office determines no public threat after suspects run from Fairfield County traffic stop

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities in Fairfield County said there is no longer a threat after a search for suspects who reportedly ran from a traffic stop.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said deputies first responded to a report of an incident behind the KFC off Highway 321 Bypass. The agency said investigators later found that while a firearm was involved, no shots were fired.

FCSO said deputies later tried to stop the suspects’ vehicle behind the library on West Washington Street and North Garden Street. All three suspects reportedly took off on foot during the stop.

The sheriff’s office and the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety then began a search of the area near Oaklawn Cemetery.
